How do I get CGPA?

Chartered Global Practising Accountants of Canada


The CGPA Professional Qualification Program (CGPA PQP) is a graduate-level course designed to obtain the CGPA designation. This program focuses on enhancing students' ability to apply professional knowledge, values, ethics, and attitudes within a professional context.


CGPA Course Syllabus


The CGPA professional qualification program comprises three levels and ten exams, including a capstone case study. The syllabus is structured as follows:


Professional Qualification Certificate:

  1. Financial Accounting

  2. Management Accounting

  3. Financial Reporting

  4. Audit and Assurance


Professional Qualification Diploma:

  1. Implementing Change Management

  2. Business Planning and Financial Management

  3. Governance and Risk Management

  4. Advanced Taxation and Law


Professional Qualification Strategic Final Exam:

  1. Strategic Public Financial Management

  2. Strategic Case Study


Admission Prerequisites for CTP/CPFA and CGPA PQ


To be admitted into CGPA’s professional qualification course, applicants must meet the following requirements:


  • Educational Background: An undergraduate degree, master’s degree, or Canadian equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution.

  • Course Prerequisites: Completion of all prerequisite course syllabi and requirements.

  • Credit Hours: 120 credit-hours or equivalent of post-secondary education (30 credit hours per academic year).

  • Academic Performance: A minimum overall GPA of 65% on course prerequisites.

  • Relevant Coursework: At least one applicable course in each of the CGPA competency areas—Financial Reporting, Governance and Risk Management, Management Accounting, Audit and Assurance, Public Finance, Taxation, and Law—must have been completed within the last 10 years prior to application.

  • Character: Demonstration of good character.
