CTP/CPFA & CGPA PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANCY QUALIFICATION

Our professional accountancy qualification provides the full range of skills and competencies required for a successful tax and finance career. CGPA Global Canada are working together to develop a seamless study pathway for all aspiring finance professionals working either in private or with public sector, and our unique qualifications give you the expertise and skills you need for a key role in the fast-growing area of academy tax and financial management, where you will learn how to manage complex and specialized tax, public finance, and accountancy education.

 

The CGPA Global Canada's Professional Accountancy Program is a 2-year graduate-level program on a part-time basis, leading to the Chartered Tax Practitioner (CTP), Certified Public Finance Accountant (CPFA), and Chartered Global Practising Accountant (CGPA) designation. The CGPA Global Canada's Professional Accountancy Program has 8 modules with examinations which individuals take on a part-time basis. After passing all 8 modules, only then the candidate can sit and pass the 2-day Strategic Final Examinations. (65% minimum grade average pass per module/course/exam is a must)

 

The candidates for the CGPA Global Canada's professional designation are required to complete 36 months of applied work experience at a senior managerial level either in taxation, Public Finance Management or accountancy prior to getting there designation.

 

Once qualified, trainees will be awarded the globally recognized Chartered Tax Practitioner (CTP), Certified Public Finance Accountant (CPFA), and Chartered Global Practising Accountant (CGPA) designation and gaining the status as a multi-skilled tax and finance professional, for both the public and corporate sectors.

 

Ongoing Professional Developments are mandatory and monitored by CGPA Global Canada for the full members of the Chartered Institute of Global Practising Accountants, formerly recognized as (CTP-CPFA Canada).

ENTRY ROUTES

FULLY QUALIFIED ACCOUNTANTS

For members of other Professional Bodies (IFAC member bodies), attaining CTP, CPFA, CGPA qualification is straightforward: you will need to sit and pass the 2-day Strategic Final Examination unless an MRA/MOU has been signed with the PAO.

To apply under the MRA/MOU, the candidate must be a member of a PAO in good standing with over 5 years of relevant post qualification either in private or public sector work experience at senior managerial level.

GRADUATES

To be eligible for entry into the PQ program, all graduates must get at least a bachelor’s degree with 120 credits either in commerce, business administration, taxation or accountancy.

 

Complete the Professional Qualification Certification program and 36 months of practical experience requirements in relevant tax, accounting or public finance positions.

 

Those with a relevant tax, finance or accountancy related degree will be granted exemptions.

SENIOR PROFESSIONALS

Senior tax and accountancy professionals with over 10 years of post-qualification experience who do not currently hold a professional accountancy qualification can take advantage of the accelerated/exemption route to the Professional Qualification by passing 2-day Strategic Final Examination.

Exemptions are granted on paper-by-paper basis. An exemption will not be awarded if you have previously attempted an examination for a subject and have not been successful. Academic qualifications will not be considered if they were obtained more than 10 years ago.

COMPETENCY BASED ASSESSMENT

Experienced tax and accounting professionals with 10+ years post-qualification can seek Professional Qualification via competency assessment. Approval by CGPA Global Canada Registration Committee is necessary. The assessment gauges senior managerial skills required for Canadian practice. Submit a worksheet equating knowledge areas to CGPA Global Canada courses. Provide specific work examples for validation. No exemptions for previously unsuccessful exams; academic qualifications over 10 years old won't be considered.

Adult Students
MODES OF STUDY

CGPA Global Canada students can choose from one of the three study modes: face-to-face, web class and self-study. We offer a supportive and extensive training provision through our qualified tutors, who use their specialized knowledge to deliver high quality training within taxation and public sector context.

 

Our virtual learning environment enables trainees to learn face-to-face and through live web classes – offering flexibility, convenience and an integrated learning experience to keep up with this new, technology-rich era of business.

Course enrolments open on our website, and students who are new to CGPA Global Canada professional designation certification will need to register on the CGPA Global Canada website to create a MyCGPA account, prior to enrolment. Returning students simply need to login to MyCGPA as usual.

 

Course materials will be posted and delivered to all students upon receipt of course enrollments. These materials are not available for separate purchase. Students are required to register for a MyCGPA account to access CGPA Global Canada Learning Materials.

CGPA GLOBAL CANADA MEMBERSHIP FEES

CGPA Global Canada annual membership fees are due on January 1 of each year. Notices are sent to members in December to advise them to renew for the year ahead.
